Local CT hard rock band PUSH initiated a benefit for the Armed Forces that was held on Sunday April 10th at Ultimate Billiards Club in Berlin. The event was dubbed "OUR TROOPS ROCK". PUSH enlisted the help of Cubed Squared a CT based entertainment agency, to coordinate the event on their behalf. This all day musical tribute to our soldiers overseas began at 2 in the afternoon and lasted well past midnite with many partying regardless of it being a Sunday night! A roster of bands took the stage including Tao Jones, Web of Addiction, Road Rage, Red Handed, XS, Pthalo, C4, Green Inside, PUSH and Darik and The Funbags.. A total of ten bands performed throughout the day. The breaks between bands featured comedic hosts Dom Fig and Desi Walker. All of these local acts donated their talents and time to this worthwhile cause. The day began with the pledge of allegiance to a flag that originally flew over Iraq during Project Iraqi Freedom. Arlene Tessman sang the National Anthem and a moment of silence was observed to honor our fallen soldiers. Members of the CTSOS organization, CT National Guard Foundation, as well as active soldiers in full uniform were on hand to say thank you! More than 250 guests paid their $10 donation toward the worthwhile cause-- and including band members, security and volunteers -- more than 400 people rocked out in honor of our men and women in uniform. It truly was an amazing day!! The final donation will be calculated in the next day or two but we expect that it will exceed $2500 in addition to the crates of donated items that will be boxed up and shipped to the soldiers over seas. This event was presented by Cubed Squared and Push, hosted by Ultimate Billiards and endorsed by Bud Light, The Hartford Advocate and WCCC. Thank you to everyone that contributed to this effort.
