Local CT hard rock band PUSH initiated a benefit for the Armed Forces to be held on Sunday April 10th at Ultimate Billiards Club in Berlin. The event is being dubbed "OUR TROOPS ROCK". PUSH enlisted the help of Cubed Squared a CT based entertainment agency, to coordinate the event on their behalf. This all day musical tribute to our soldiers overseas will begin at 2 in the afternoon and is slated to go until midnight. A roster of bands will join PUSH on the stage including Tao Jones, Web of Addiction, Road Rage, Red Handed, XS, Pthalo, C4, Green Inside, and Darik and The Funbags.. A total of ten bands in all are expected to perform throughout the day and all of these local acts are donating their talents and time to this worthwhile cause. All donated items from the list of necessities below will benefit the Items for donation should be off the following list: Letters of support (not sealed), letters from children and art work (soldiers love this!) AT&T Internationl calling cards only (otherwise it is $11.00 a minute) FOOD ITEMS (ARE CRITICAL) Tuna fish snack pack pop top canned food like ravioli ( chef boy r dee) hard candy, tootsie rolls, gum good 'ol American coffee microwaveable food ramen noodles powdered drink mix, juice boxes, capri sun, etc. beef jerky fruit snacks breath mints OTHER ITEMS Zip Lock bags fun items disposable cameras ODOR EATERS hand sanitizer Q tips medicated foot powder baby powder over the counter medications insect repellant writing paper, envelopes ( postage on letter size envelopes is free), pens crossword and word search books dvd's and cd's ( used is fine) CD Players AA and AAA batteries black tee shirts, black socks $1 will buy a soda HOSPITAL ITEMS Men's pajamas, Bathrobes, flip-flops, socks Ladies' pajamas or large sleep shirts, Bathrobes, flip flops, socks 1 or 2 % kid sized items pajamas, robes, flip flops When sizing, err on the larger sizes Small toiletries - double bag them! A supportive letter to a soldier Small games, playing cards, music CDs, walkmans CD players. Please package hospital items listed above as follows: in a zip lock bag put a pair of pajamas, flip-flops, socks together and label it for the recipient, i.e. "men's large." This will save a lot of time on the other end. This is not an exclusive list . We want our soldiers to know we are thinking of them. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Ultimate Billiards Club (151 Webster Square Road, Berlin CT 860-828-5754) beginning Feb 14th. Advance ticket price is $8. Admission at the door is $10. PUSH is hopeful that 10 hours of music for $10 will be an affordable contribution for all that come out to make this benefit a huge success. In addition, for every Bud Light draft beer sold, $1 will be donated to the cause. This event is being presented by Cubed Squared and Push, hosted by Ultimate Billiards and endorsed by Bud Light, The Hartford Advocate and WCCC. For those that can not attend but wish to donate, all monetary donations in the form of checks should be made payable to The CT National Guards Foundation Inc. and mailed c/o Cubed Squared to PO Box 7113 Kensington CT 06037 to be received no later than April 9, 2005. All net donation money collected from the event will benefit The CT National Guards Foundation. All donated items from the list of necessities will benefit the CT Supports Our Soldiers Foundation (CTSOS). Thank you to everyone that is contributing to this effort.
